I love my house. I love my kitchen, I love my laundry room, I love my master bedroom suite with it’s huge closet. I love my house so much that when the original home perished in the Witch Fire in 2007, my husband and I rebuilt the home exactly as it was. The only changes were in the finishes because the original finishes were no longer available.

The reason I love my house so much is because of the time spent in the design process with our architect, Carole Wylie. Each detail was paid attention to. One of my most vivid memories is the day Carole and I sat together and worked on the layout of my kitchen. We spent several hours laying out where each appliance would go, what type of cabinets I would need for storage. We two women working together knew exactly where to put things to make the kitchen perfect for my purposes.

Our home was designed with entertaining in mind. We hold large family gatherings and wanted a place with big, open rooms, great flow and an easy to work in kitchen. Carole listened to our needs and wants and managed to accomplish a design that is perfect for both large group gatherings or intimate cozy meals in our kitchen nook. The kitchen is big and easy to move around in – this was important to us because no matter what you do, guests love to congregate in the kitchen!

Our master bedroom suite is a dream! The bedroom itself is a good size with a wonderful bay window where I enjoy sitting and reading peacefully. The closet is HUGE – thanks to Carole and my husband! There is plenty of room for all our clothing and extra space for a built in ironing board, storage for specialty clothing (skiing, fishing etc) and hiding gifts. Our Master Bath is fantastic with separate sink areas for my husband and myself, a shower for me and a Jacuzzi tub for my husband. All of these areas were carefully thought out and planned for and I wouldn’t change a thing!

Carole was involved in the design of our home from beginning to end. She walked the property with my husband before we began, discussing how the house would sit to take advantage of the views and natural sunlight. She worked with photos of the property placed on the wall around her, always focusing on how we could best use what nature had provided with what we hoped to accomplish. The result is a comfortable, warm home with beautiful outdoor views, great for entertaining and yet comfortable for my husband and myself now that our girls are grown and gone.
